POE 2 Currency Orbs thrives on weaving dark lore with challenging boss encounters, and few illustrate this more hauntingly than Areagne, the Forgotten Witch, who lurks within The Grelwood. Unlike brutish predators or fallen nobles, Areagne represents an entirely different form of terror the corruption of arcane power and the lingering wrath of a spirit abandoned by time.
The battle with Areagne isn't just a test of mechanics; it is a narrative encounter that forces players to confront both the dangers of forbidden sorcery and the eerie presence of Wraeclast's haunted landscapes.
The Grelwood is a sprawling, twisted forest that feels suffocating at every turn. Its trees stretch like skeletal arms, their roots choked with rot. The air is thick, buzzing with insects and heavy with the scent of decay. Light struggles to break through the canopy, giving the region a dreamlike gloom.
This unsettling wilderness feels alive, hostile, and waiting for intruders to stumble too far into its depths. Among the brambles and unnatural shadows, whispers and faint laughter drift on the wind. It is here that players encounter Areagne a witch long thought forgotten, her spirit bound to the woods she once tried to tame.
Legends of Areagne speak of a sorceress who once sought to harness the life force of the Grelwood to fuel her magic. Obsessed with immortality and forbidden rituals, she bound herself to the forest in ways that twisted both her body and spirit. When her human form decayed, her essence remained tethered, transforming her into something less than human, yet far more dangerous.
Her title, "The Forgotten Witch," reflects both her banishment from memory and her refusal to fade away. She is neither fully alive nor fully dead a revenant of arcane corruption, still clinging to the echoes of her power. For players, confronting her is less about slaying a witch than putting to rest a ghostly embodiment of hubris and obsession.
Deep within the Grelwood, players stumble upon a glade surrounded by twisted roots and fungal growths. The area is unnaturally still. At its center stands a cracked stone altar, covered with runes that glow faintly in the gloom. When cheap POE 2 Divine Orbs players approach, Areagne manifests, emerging as a spectral form cloaked in rags, her eyes burning with ethereal light.
